The Brink

The project ”Brinken” aims to create a year-round open activity yard for children and youth in Blattnicksele, which includes a hockey rink and other sports facilities, to promote physical activity and social interaction in the village.

About the project

The project ”Brinken” aims to create a versatile activity yard for children and youth in Blattnicksele. Today there is a hockey barrier in the village that is used in winter, but it is in poor condition and risks being removed, which would leave an empty gravel bed. Through the project, the village wants to ensure a place for movement activities year-round, which they own and manage themselves.

The location of the activity yard is centrally located, easily accessible, and illuminated, making it safe and secure. Through collaboration with the municipality, Brinken can be placed on the school grounds, which further increases accessibility and allows use even during school hours.

The activity yard will include a hockey rink for ice skating in winter and basketball hoops, floorball, and soccer goals for summer, allowing several different sports to be practiced year-round. The project builds on previously developed meeting places in the village, such as an outdoor kitchen and a grill hut, which will strengthen and complement the new area.

The goal of Brinken is to create an attractive meeting place that promotes physical activity and social interaction for both young and old, and contributes to the village's sustainability and attractiveness.

LAG board's decision justification

The LAG board decided to prioritize the application as the project enables several different movement activities throughout the year through the creation of this outdoor activity yard. The project will further develop the area into a natural meeting place for both young and old.
