Leader Lappland 2030 is a non-profit association that works with development in our eight municipalities. We grant funding for various development projects based on the leader method.
Who are we
The association Lappland 2030
The association Leader Lappland 2030 has a public benefit purpose and creates conditions for positive rural development through collaboration between the non-profit sector, the private sector, and the public sector. The non-profit sector is represented by local development groups and associations, while the private sector consists of businesses or business organizations. The public sector includes municipalities, county councils, county administrative boards, and similar entities.
Leader Lappland 2030 is one of 40 areas in Sweden and includes the municipalities of Arjeplog, Arvidsjaur, Dorotea, Lycksele, Sorsele, Storuman, Vilhelmina, and Åsele. All eight municipalities, as well as Region Västerbotten, Region Norrbotten, and the EU through the rural development fund, contribute to the funding of our area.

Rural development
Leader is a method where businesses, non-profit organizations, and public parties collaborate to develop their place. The idea is that the residents and active individuals of the place – you, your association, local businesses, and other organizations – are the best at developing the place you live in because you know its needs and challenges.

Our local development strategy
It is important to emphasize that the local development strategy constitutes the framework for projects that can receive support. The strategy is based on local needs and is used to prioritize and select project applications in the board's work. Since each leader area has its own development strategy, priorities may differ in different areas. However, you can find more information about the leader method and its goals on our joint website.

Our board
Our board consists of 24 members, evenly distributed with 3 people per municipality and an even distribution between the non-profit, private, and public sectors. The distribution is of particular importance to us, as the leader method is based on collaboration.
It is through the board that we ensure our work follows our development strategy, and it is also the board that makes decisions about the allocation of leader support.
Our staff
Development Office
Operational responsibility for Leader Lappland lies with a development office, where the staff works according to the local development strategy, the board's intentions, and the program rules. If you have a project idea or need help moving forward, you can turn to the office for support. Additionally, the office can help you connect with other projects or actors.
