Future in focus is a project where we together with rural areas in the Leader Lappland region develop smart rural strategies – with the help of local knowledge, facts, and joint engagement.
Through a local economic analysis (LEA) you get a clear picture of your rural area's current situation, opportunities, and development potential. This becomes the foundation for a rural development plan – your own strategy for the future.

What is Future in focus?
You get the opportunity to work out a joint plan for your rural area's future.
With support from a local economic analysis, you gain a clearer picture of your resources, opportunities, and challenges.
Together, you transform knowledge and ideas into a concrete plan to work further with.
That’s why we do this
Many rural areas have ideas and engagement – but lack the structure to take the next step.
By gathering knowledge, statistics, and local perspectives, it becomes easier to see what is possible and what you want to prioritize moving forward.
Here’s how it works
You express interest and we get in touch.
Together with Coompanion, you start the work with meetings and workshops where you explore your rural area.
Step by step, a rural development plan emerges – which you own and can use moving forward.
What does it lead to?
You get a clear plan for how you want to develop your rural area.
But equally important is the process – it creates engagement, strengthens collaboration, and provides a common direction forward.
The last application date has passed, new applications will open up in the fall.
Who can participate?
Associations and local groups in the Leader Lappland area that want to work long-term with their rural area's development.
You do not need to have all the answers – it is enough that you want to start.
NOTE! A limited number of rural areas will have the opportunity to develop an LEA plan with our support.

The purpose of the project is to strengthen the local rural areas and potentially increase self-sufficiency, sustainable growth, and social cohesion throughout Leader
Lappland 2030's area.
The goal of the project is to conduct local economic analyses and develop at least 6 smart rural strategies
LAG board's decision justification
The LAG board decided to prioritize the application as the project clearly addresses a
growing need for tools for local economic analyses and
development plans, which strengthen the rural area's independence and sustainability.
The project's innovative approach ensures broad local engagement and
long-term results for the entire Leader Lappland 2030's area.
