Feasibility Study Development of tourism in the Moskosel countryside
Creative Villages in Älvsbyn is conducting a feasibility study to strengthen and develop the tourism industry in the Moskosel countryside. Through dialogue, workshops, and local anchoring, needs, opportunities, and forms of collaboration between businesses, associations, and landowners are mapped. The goal is to develop a sustainable plan for future investments – ecologically, economically, and socially.
Purpose and goals
The purpose of the project is:
through a feasibility study investigate how the tourism industry in the Moskosel countryside can be developed through increased collaboration between businesses, associations, and landowners.
The goal of the project is to:
• Conduct two workshops with local actors.
• Conduct a study visit.
• Develop a plan for collaboration within the tourism industry.
About the project
The project is about finding new ways to collaborate between associations, businesses, landowners, and other local actors. The focus is on creating a model that is sustainable in the long term – both ecologically, economically, and socially.
In the feasibility study, tourist destinations, development ideas, and possible collaborations are mapped. The project leader is present in Moskosel to hold dialogue meetings, arrange workshops, and gather local perspectives. An important aspect is to utilize the knowledge that already exists in the countryside – from previous projects, meetings, and initiatives.
The hope is that the feasibility study will result in a concrete plan for how the Moskosel countryside can grow as a tourist destination – in a way that strengthens both community and business. A place where nature is protected, local pride grows, and more people get the chance to experience the unique area.
From the Project Application
”Being able to highlight the area and make it visible together means that the activities created in the future have a better chance of surviving. The feasibility study will identify areas for development and create collaboration through co-creation processes and anchoring.”

The LAG board decided to prioritize the application as the project clearly contributes to the development of the tourism industry in the Moskosel countryside through collaboration between local businesses, associations, and landowners. The feasibility study addresses an identified need for a sustainable collaboration model and strengthens local attractiveness, which aligns with Leader Lappland 2030's goal of developing local entrepreneurship and creating long-term conditions for economic, social, and ecological sustainability.
