Gondolaeden – cycling for a vibrant Hemavan year-round
The project will create a cohesive and safe bike path at the gondola in Hemavan. The initiative will make cycling more accessible and contribute to a more vibrant Hemavan year-round.
Purpose and goals
The purpose of the project is:
to strengthen Hemavan as an attractive year-round destination by developing a safe and coherent bike path that enables increased use of the area during the non-snow season.
The goal of the project is:
to establish a coherent bike path at the gondola area in Hemavan that connects existing trails.
About the project
Hemavan is a strong winter destination, but there is a need for more activities even during the non-snow season. At the same time, a growing local engagement for cycling has emerged, especially among youth and young adults.
The project aims to create a new bike path at the gondola that connects existing trails in the mountain environment with the valley station and the village. It creates a safer and more coherent cycling experience for both residents and visitors.
The initiative is driven by local and voluntary forces in collaboration with the business community. By creating better opportunities for cycling during the non-snow season, the project aims to contribute to community, activity, and enhanced attractiveness – and to Hemavan as a place to live, work, and visit year-round.
From the Project Application
”By addressing the identified gap in the trail system, the project creates a robust and long-term sustainable foundation for the continued development of cycling in Hemavan, where both existing and future trails can be used safely and coherently.”
