Feasibility study for activity center in Hemavan
The feasibility study will investigate the possibilities of developing the former bathhouse in Hemavan into an activity center – a common meeting place for community life, children, youth, and others who live and stay in the area.
Purpose and goals
The purpose of the project is:
to investigate the conditions for developing a activity center in Hemavan that can serve as an inclusive meeting place for children, youth, adults, community life, residents, and visitors
The goal of the project is:
to carry out and complete a preliminary study that clarifies the conditions for a future activity center in Hemavan
About the project
In Hemavan, there is a strong commitment and many active associations, but there is a lack of a common place where activities and people can meet year-round. At the same time, the former swimming pool centrally located in the village is largely underutilized.
The preliminary study will investigate the possibilities of developing the building into an activity center. The idea is to gather various activities under one roof and create a flexible meeting place for, among others, community life, children and youth, the elderly, and visitors.
The preliminary study will, together with local associations, businesses, and other stakeholders, investigate what needs exist, how the premises could be designed, and what conditions are required for sustainable long-term operation. The result should provide a clear decision basis for whether – and how – a future activity center can become a reality.
From the Project Application
”The idea is to take advantage of an underutilized building with great development potential and investigate whether it can become a place
that enhances Hemavan's attractiveness, creates better conditions for community life, and contributes to a more vibrant
community even outside the peak season.”

LAG board's decision justification
The LAG board decided to prioritize the application as the project, through a preliminary study
will investigate the conditions for creating an activity center in Hemavan with
meeting places for culture, leisure, and social community. The project contributes to
enhancing the area's attractiveness for residents, community life, and visitors, as well as creating
conditions for increased collaboration between the non-profit, private, and public sectors.
The preliminary study is also expected to contribute to increased social sustainability and a more vibrant
local community year-round.
