RESTORE INLAND TENNIS

The project aims to renovate a dilapidated tennis court to create an accessible meeting place for all ages and promote spontaneous sports as well as organized activities, which contributes to improved public health. Through the facility, tennis is expected to be revived and strengthen both the local community and the municipality's attractiveness.

Purpose and goals

The purpose of the project is to:
strengthen the area's attractiveness by creating a natural meeting place where children and young people can meet and be active.
The goal of the project is to:
restore a tennis court.

About the project

The project aims to renovate the old tennis court in Vilhelmina and create a vibrant meeting place for everyone – children, young people, adults, and seniors. The goal is to revive tennis in the area and offer a place for spontaneous sports and organized activities that contribute to improved public health. Since there are currently no functioning clay tennis courts in Vilhelmina, the project is crucial to provide residents with an accessible sports facility year-round.

The renovated tennis court is expected to attract both organized youth activities and spontaneous sports. By involving different age groups, including children and young people, in planning and implementation, the ambition is to create a place where everyone feels welcome. The tennis club also aims to strengthen the association through rejuvenation and increased engagement. The tennis court will complement other activities in the area, such as football, mini-golf, and outdoor gyms, and strengthen Vilhelmina as an attractive place for both residents and visitors.

From the Project Application

”The whole area will be buzzing with life and activities, with something for everyone. The location of the court speaks to how successful this will be.”
