– Organize 40 activities such as workshops, discussions, and creative meetings
– Establish a podcast to spread the project's content digitally
– To develop a model and/or method that will be disseminated.

About the project

”Voices from a bookstore” is a project aimed at creating an inclusive meeting place for young people in Lycksele with a focus on health, participation, and belief in the future. Through popular education, conversations, workshops, and cultural activities, young voices are raised in the public debate – with a particular focus on mental health, climate issues, human rights, LGBTQI+, and indigenous issues. The project is based on collaboration between civil society, the municipality, the County Administrative Board, and the church and is carried out in Lycksele with dissemination to several municipalities in the Leader Lapland area.

The bookstore in Lycksele will be the arena where young people can express themselves, influence and organize themselves – for example through their own podcast, democratic conversations, a Pride festival and other activities that they themselves can shape.

From the Project Application

”The understanding of young people's living conditions should contribute to participating actors and target groups of the results, receiving better grounds for decisions and actions aimed at young women and men.”

LAG board's decision justification

The LAG board decided to prioritize the application as the project clearly addresses the needs of young people for an inclusive meeting place for dialogue, learning, and engagement in societal issues. By developing an innovative collaboration model, social sustainability, belief in the future, and young people's mental health are promoted in line with the Leader Lapland 2030 strategy.
