See you in Saxnäs!
In Saxnäs, two new meeting places for activity and community are being created – a playground in the middle of the village and a ski lift for skiing in winter. The initiative aims to provide especially children and young people with better opportunities for play, movement, and spontaneous meetings year-round.
Purpose and goals
The purpose of the project is:
to strengthen community, well-being and faith in the future in Saxnäs by creating an attractive and accessible meeting place for children, youth, families, locals and visitors.
The goal of the project is:
to establish a playground, an excursion area and a ski lift in Saxnäs that creates opportunities for play, physical activity, social interaction and outdoor life year-round.
About the project
In Saxnäs there is a strong commitment to the future of the community. Through a previous vision work, the locals have together highlighted the need for more meeting places and activities that create community and make the village attractive for both residents and visitors.
Now some of the ideas are becoming reality through the project See you in Saxnäs!
In the middle of the village, a new playground will be built, designed to suit children of different ages and create a natural place for both play and meetings. Here, children will be able to meet and play while parents and other adults have a place to socialize.
The project also includes a ski lift that will provide children and beginners with better opportunities for skiing in the village. The lift creates a more accessible place for spontaneous winter activities and makes it easier for more people to try skiing.
Behind the initiative are Saxnäs Sports and Community Association together with Saxnäs Community Association and Klimpfjäll Alpine Club. Children and youth are also involved in the project and get to influence how the new meeting places are designed.
Through the initiative, the associations want to create more joy of movement and community while strengthening Saxnäs as a place where people can meet, thrive and be active year-round.
From the Project Application
”We want to create a place for activities and socializing, for children, locals and visitors. A place that contributes to joy of movement, community and a more attractive village. A village where young people stay, where people start families and where people move to. A place for faith in the future.”

LAG board's decision justification
The LAG board decided to prioritize the application as the project creates a new
accessible meeting place for children, youth, families and visitors in Saxnäs through
the establishment of a playground, excursion area and ski lift. The project contributes to
strengthening the community in the village, promoting physical activity and public health as well as increasing
the area's attractiveness as a residential and tourist destination. Through broad collaboration
between associations, locals, schools, preschools and local actors, the project is assessed to strengthen
local engagement, create increased faith in the future and contribute
to a vibrant and inclusive countryside.
