Project or microproject?

With us, you have the opportunity to apply for support for both large projects and microprojects. It is the scope and focus of the idea that determines which type of support is appropriate. Regardless of whether it is a comprehensive project or a smaller part of a larger plan, there is the possibility to get the help you need to realize your vision.

Larger investments

Project support

A leader project suits you who have a more comprehensive idea that requires a larger budget, longer timeline, and broader efforts. This means more steps and a bit more administration – but it also opens up for greater opportunities.

Does the project fit within an intervention area?
In order to receive support, the project must fit within one of our intervention areas. Please feel free to contact us if you are unsure – we will help you find the right one.

How much can you apply for?
We recommend that applications cover at least 100,000 SEK in support. There is no fixed upper limit – but the larger the support you apply for, the more comprehensive the project's results and effects need to be.

How do you apply?
You apply digitally via the Swedish Board of Agriculture's e-service. All projects also require voluntary participation – either in the form of voluntary time or another counter-performance.

Decision and processing time
Decisions are made by the Leader Lappland board. If approved, the case is forwarded to the Swedish Board of Agriculture for a formal decision – which can take up to 10 months.

Microproject

A microproject is an excellent alternative for smaller initiatives that do not require a large budget or extensive administration. By carrying out a microproject, both the processing time and paperwork are reduced – but you can still make a significant difference locally.

How much can you apply for?
Most microprojects have a budget of up to about 30,000 SEK. It is possible to apply for more if justified – but all costs must be reasonable, well-founded, and necessary for the project to be carried out.

In order to apply, your idea must fit within one of our four microproject orientations. You submit your application via a simple form here on the website.

Just like in larger projects, voluntary work is required as part of your effort.

Decisions are made by our decision committee – without the requirement for a formal decision from the Swedish Board of Agriculture.

Project support for businesses

This support applies to projects where the benefit primarily accrues to the applicant – for example, a business, an association, or another organization. It can be a development effort that strengthens your operations, without having broad public benefit.

Who can apply?
All types of legal entities (e.g., businesses, associations) can apply – as long as the project primarily benefits their own operations.

There needs to be some form of collaboration, e.g., with another actor, customer group, or target group. It is also positive if the project contributes to local development in the long term.

How much can you apply for?

  • You can receive up to 70% of the project's costs in support

  • The maximum support amount is 200,000 SEK

Example: You have a project budget of 250,000 SEK. Then you receive 175,000 SEK (70%) in support and cover 75,000 SEK yourself.
If you have a project budget of 500,000 kr, you will receive 200,000 kr (maximum support) and will then have to cover the remaining yourself.

How do you apply?
You apply in the same way as for regular leader projects – via the Swedish Board of Agriculture's e-service.

The application is assessed by the Leader Lappland board and follows the same process and quality requirements as other project support.
