Dorotea Development Center – DUC

The DUC project aims to lift the business community in Dorotea back to its previous level, and to achieve this, entrepreneurs are actively working together. To reach its goal, DUC will create a platform where entrepreneurs can get information, contacts, support, and skills, and where they can find partners in both private, public, and non-profit sectors.

About the project

The project aims to include youth and associations in a development where the business community takes initiative and sees the benefits in a municipality where all groups participate and develop activities. A functioning business function is important for municipalities in rural areas that have a strained economy. Dorotea municipality has lost ground in the Swedish Business ranking in recent years, and the business community signals that strong measures are needed.

Entrepreneurs in Dorotea see the municipality as a development municipality with great potential to grow. To succeed in this, one needs to create a platform where business actors can gather information, contacts, support, and skills, as well as find partners in the private, public, and non-profit sectors. A mapping is also needed to identify the needs for education and skills development.

The project will also serve as a model for other small inland municipalities that struggle with similar problems, and the project will contribute to spreading experiences to other interested actors.

From the Project Application

”In the project, employment and entrepreneurship will be increased with the help of innovative thinking and creativity.”

Purpose and goals

The purpose of the project is to:
establish a meeting place/resource center between youth, private, public, and non-profit sectors to drive development issues that are not currently addressed by existing actors and to increase and stimulate entrepreneurship within schools.

The goal of the project is to:
establish a network for development issues between the public sector, businesses, and associations, to conduct an inventory of the skills needs of existing companies and to create a mentoring network for young entrepreneurs.
