About the project
TALKO is a transnational Leader project focused on civil society and rural areas with the aim of developing a stable association life that has a strong commitment to the community. The goal is for associations in participating project areas to upgrade their activities so that they better meet the conditions of contemporary society, which secures the future of the associations and at the same time ensures social capital.
The project includes 4 Leader areas and partners; Ostrobothnia in Finland as well as Höga Kusten, Lappland 2020, and Polaris in Sweden. Each project partner will have its own focus area within the overarching theme of developing the non-profit sector, with common touchpoints shaped from a jointly developed LFA analysis. All sub-projects develop and test methods and models locally, to then gather for joint workshops in all four partner areas during 2020. In addition, project leaders meet for experience exchange, knowledge transfer, and evaluations. The final result is a joint material on the development of the non-profit sector that will be used and disseminated in both Finland and Sweden.

Purpose and goals
The purpose of the project is to:
strengthen collaboration between the non-profit, public, and private sectors, as well as help associations update their operational forms to fit today's society. Leader Lappland 2020 will be the spider in the web for all actors within the public, private, and non-profit sector in the leader area and strengthen tripartite collaboration.
gather actors from the three different sectors and conduct several workshops that go through the local conditions and test models for association development and collaboration in tripartite partnerships. The project will also map the opportunities to create smart villages by strengthening social capital, with perspectives on local procurement and similar processes.
