The goal of the project is to form and establish the Rádestit collaboration association by adopting statutes and other necessary governing documents, conducting an annual meeting, and investigating the potential future operation of the association. A concept for voluntary local accreditation for organizers of sustainable hunting and fishing tourism will be developed and tested by at least three organizers. Additionally, at least one mountain fishing forum and one small game forum will be organized.

About the project

The project is about establishing the Rádestit collaboration association, a platform for local collaboration around small game and fish management, initiated by Sámi villages, tourism businesses, hunting and fishing associations, and the business company Argentis. After a two-year feasibility study, they are now seeking support to implement the project, which aims to address local issues related to reindeer husbandry, regulations, supervision, safety, and compliance.

The project strengthens Arjeplog as an attractive living environment by including Sámi and other local actors in the decision-making process, which promotes social sustainability and prevents conflicts. It contributes to people wanting to stay and increases the potential for immigration, as well as supporting the 16th global sustainability goal of peaceful and inclusive societies. Furthermore, local entrepreneurship is promoted through reduced disturbances in reindeer husbandry, better rules for the tourism industry, and sustainability labeling that strengthens the brand, which aligns with the 8th global sustainability goal of sustainable economic growth.

By establishing a new non-profit collaboration association, the project also strengthens volunteer engagement, engages new groups such as youth and newcomers, and contributes to inclusive and equitable entrepreneurship in Arjeplog. The Silver Museum will serve as a neutral platform for collaboration, and a project manager with relevant experience will be hired.
