Meeting point Kristineberg
Purpose and goals
The purpose of the project is to:
create a meeting place in Kristineberg that contributes to movement richness and physical well-being for the public.
The goal of the project is to:
– build an activity park
– create social spaces for social interaction
About the project
Meeting Place Kristineberg is a project aimed at creating a central and easily accessible activity site that meets the need for outdoor activities and a meeting place for all ages, especially during spring, summer, and autumn. Currently, there is a lack of a natural outdoor meeting place in the community, and there are limited activities for children during the summer when youth centers, swimming pools, and other indoor activities are on break. An outdoor gym has been requested for several years, but the lack of a central and accessible location has hindered its construction. The outdoor environment for children has also been unsatisfactory due to the absence of playgrounds and other outdoor activities.
The project will include a play area, sports fields, obstacle courses, cycling and technology areas, as well as an outdoor gym and barbecue and picnic spots. This area, created on the site of an old school that burned down and has been remediated, will cater to all age groups and promote movement and health. Meeting Place Kristineberg will become an important resource for both the village and nearby villages, contributing to an attractive and sustainable residential region.
The project includes renovation and replacement of rest areas that are frequently used by sport fishermen, passing tourists, and for various activities such as snowmobile outings and kayaking. The goal is to increase the area's attractiveness and strengthen the local and international destination, in line with the municipality's program for water and fishing development as well as nature and outdoor activities.
”Health-promoting activities for everyone, both through socializing and movement, are an important piece of the puzzle when it comes to an attractive living environment.”

The LAG board decided to prioritize the application as the project aims to contribute to an attractive and sustainable
residential region by building an activity park that creates movement richness for both
young and old. The activity park will be able to meet the need for outdoor activities throughout the
community and the initiative will also enable day trips.
