You feel comfortable where you are needed.

The project aims to strengthen young people's physical and mental well-being in the Leader Lapland area by creating an inclusive arena for participation and influence, where diversity, equality, and social sustainability are at the center. Through outreach activities, workshops, and networking, the project will promote hope for the future and engagement among youth to contribute to a positive development of the countryside.

Purpose and goals

The purpose of the project is to:
create conditions and promote a positive view of the future for the youth in our leader area.
The goal of the project is to:
develop a basis that shows which areas need to be strengthened and improved locally and what improvements are needed for young people in the Leader Lapland area to thrive.

About the project

The project aims to improve young people's physical and mental well-being by promoting participation, diversity, equality, and social sustainability. The background to the project is that many young people are feeling worse, have difficulty integrating into society, and that more and more are moving away from the countryside. Additionally, the return migration is lower than desired, and there are specific challenges for LGBTQI individuals and others who do not fit into normative patterns. These groups often experience discrimination and negative attitudes, which hinder their career choices and participation in society.

The project will work to create a bridge between young people and various actors, including politics, to give youth the opportunity to influence. A youth coach/project leader will be central to this work by organizing workshops, building networks, and highlighting important issues and future opportunities. It is important to strengthen and preserve the Sami tradition and cultural heritage, as well as to include all groups in society, including foreign-born individuals and indigenous peoples.

To achieve the project's goals, outreach activities will be conducted to reach young people and those working with youth. By listening to their visions and wishes, the project will map out which areas need to be strengthened and improved.

The project strives to create a more positive view of the future and increase the sense of coherence and participation for young people in the area. By developing digital meeting places and strengthening community life, it is hoped to engage more young people and create a society where everyone, regardless of background or interests, feels included and valued. In the long term, the goal is for more young people to want to stay in their hometowns and actively contribute to a positive development of the area.

From the Project Application

”We want to create opportunities to feel included regardless of background, sexual orientation, or an interest that is not considered the norm in the environment where they live.”
