The tourism industry plays an increasingly important role for employment and service in sparsely populated areas, and the project in Kittelfjäll aims to create a long-term foundation to increase attractiveness in the summer.
About the project
Kittelfjäll has increased in popularity even in the summer, which has led to more tourist businesses and entrepreneurs wanting to increase their presence in the area. A project is underway to improve the supply of basic activities and create meaningful leisure activities that are accessible to all. The goal is to offer activities in mountain environments/terrain for the active family. The project includes young adults and collaborates with local actors, the municipality, entrepreneurs, and associations.
Currently, operations in Kittelfjäll are limited to the winter season, but plans exist to build an inn with a restaurant and hostel, a new campsite, and attract a grocery store. The improvement of the supply of basic activities will increase attractiveness in the summer, benefiting both tourists and local entrepreneurs.

Purpose and goals
The purpose of the project is to:
with joint collaboration investigate and create a long-term planning/work model for Kittelfjäll's attractiveness, even during the summer.
The goal of the project is to:
– Within the project, collaboration has been created and meetings have been held with several different actors in the area
– Have mapped the existing supply of leisure activities and created a work model
– Have improved the supply of basic activities that are accessible to all.
– Equality, accessibility, and a youth perspective are included in all activities in the project.
