Village film
The project ”Byafilm” will produce films where the focus is on the advantages of living in a village – a kind of collection of PR films that proudly showcase beautiful views, activities, the villagers, and life in the countryside.
Purpose and goals
The purpose of the project is to:
through films showcase the pride of living in villages while preserving knowledge and history from the past.
The goal of the project is to:
produce at least 30 films that present the villages in a positive way. The films will be produced together with the villagers.
About the project
The Culture Academy has produced a lot of film material from many places in the municipality, which is now collected at Storumans Film Archive. Byafilm intends to use this unique material and record new sequences to produce films that focus on the advantages of living in the village. The films will be documentary and useful for authorities, institutions, businesses, relatives, and other stakeholders.
At the same time, they will be positive and informative, a collection of PR films where we proudly showcase beautiful landscapes, activities, the villagers, and village life. This means that the villages should actively think about what they want to profile, how they want the village to be presented outwardly, and who should be seen and heard. The films will be shown online at byafilm.se, where visitors can explore a map and watch the films play.
From the Project Application
”A better understanding of the countryside and these social and cultural heritages is important for the village's cohesion and development.”

LAG board's decision justification
The LAG board decided to prioritize the application as the project will produce films where the focus is on the advantages of living in the village. Films that should be appealing and spark interest in either visiting the village or learning more. The project will take the material that already exists, complement it with new recordings, and together with the villagers create films that contribute to the inland's social and cultural sustainability. A living documentation that will be available for many generations.
