Village development

Arvidsjaur, Arjeplog, and Sorsele are three municipalities with an aging population. But there is also an increase in young families moving into the villages, which poses a challenge for the municipalities. The project aims to develop new methodological solutions that can effectively develop local development and service out in the villages. This facilitates collaboration at several levels and provides a good foundation for community planning in the municipalities and the region. Better collaboration between the voluntary, private, and public sectors is important. The project also wants to take advantage of the development potential between civil society and the tourism industry in rural areas.

The method will focus on holistic solutions such as tourism, local development, co-determination, diversity, sustainability, and gender equality. Actors from the local community and the municipality will be engaged in the process for long-term future work and developed perspectives. The goal is to have a natural municipal presence at the civil servant level out in villages and service points, which would give the rural council or similar function in the three municipalities a clearer referral function.

The project includes collaboration between Arvidsjaur municipality with Sorsele and Arjeplog municipality, Hela Sverige ska leva, the Rural Council, corresponding organizations in the other municipalities, village associations, local entrepreneurs, and Region Norrbotten.
