Inland scene Åsele
The project ”Inlands Scen” establishes a collaboration platform that unites actors, cultural organizers, and artists within the Leader area. Through a live-streamed talk show, music performances, and youth participation, the project aims to promote understanding of rural life while strengthening cultural and community life.
Purpose and goals
The purpose of the project is to:
Through local solutions, digital technology, and culture present in the area, show that it is possible to live and work in the countryside.
The goal of the project is to:
During the Åsele market, create new activities such as live bands and talk shows with local artists, which will be streamed to the public.
About the project
The project ”Inlands Scen” establishes a collaboration platform that unites actors, cultural organizers, and artists within the Leader area. The goal is to demonstrate that it is possible to live and work in the countryside. The project idea was developed in dialogue with young people, who will also be responsible for implementing the activities. The collaboration involves Åsele municipality and includes summer youth employed by the municipality.
Since January 2023, the project group has worked together to shape a completely new, innovative idea. During the Åsele market week, week 28, a series of activities will take place. Our plan is to combine a live talk show with live music, and the entire event will be streamed live to reach a wider audience, especially those who cannot attend the market for various reasons. Our team also includes young summer workers.
The project includes the following parts:
- Talk show with two hosts and various guests. The hosts guide discussions, interview guests, and connect the entire event.
- Guests from the private sector to ”music guests” such as Carolina Miskovsky & Daniel Pettersson, Yellowstone Worries, Bottleneck John, Cimberly Wanyonyi, among others.
- Live music with the house band led by Petri Kivimäki. The band consists of young freelance musicians from the Leader area. They will play together with music guests, and the band will prepare the repertoire through rehearsals with the guests over the course of a week.
- Live streaming. Everything will be streamed from the stage to the market's website in real-time. We will have a streaming leader responsible for this and guiding the youth through the process.
- Youth. We offer Åsele's youth the opportunity to work summer jobs with the project. The youth will be involved in all parts of the project. They will start with organizer training from the Åsele Music & National Theatre Association and will participate in selecting artists and guests. During the market weekend from July 14-16, the youth will work on everything from organizing to streaming and stage hosting, among other tasks.
From the Project Application
”Through culture and music, there is an opportunity to feel involved and thereby gain a sense of connection to where one lives and works.”

LAG board's decision justification
The LAG board decided to prioritize the application as the project wants to demonstrate that it is possible to live and operate in our countryside. This will be done during a market week, by adding new activities such as live bands and talk shows with local artists. Since the event will also be live-streamed, there is the opportunity to reach out to the entire leader area.
