Culture Power
Culture Power wants to create conditions for new collaborations and increase cooperation within the cultural creative sector, among both businesses and associations as well as individuals.
About the project
Arjeplog municipality has a rich association life with a large number of associations, which contributes to opportunities for a valuable leisure time and a rich and varied range of activities for both the municipality's citizens and visitors. The association life and civil society are an important force in the municipality that helps to maintain and develop the infrastructure and the attractive living environment. Some of the associations are active within the cultural sector. Having access to a varied range of cultural activities contributes to giving meaning and community in life and is important for a place/location to be experienced and developed as an attractive living environment to live, work, and thrive in.
We have considered creating gathering places for culture, where we can unite the public with the non-profit and private sectors. We want to find out the needs, wishes, and ideas to develop culture in our municipality. Additionally, we want to map and develop the offerings for different interest groups and ages, such as children, youth, adults, men, women, and foreign-born individuals.
It has been requested that we should co-distribute resources and work more strategically to create conditions for businesses and associations within the cultural sector to collaborate more. This would streamline resources and increase opportunities for more companies within the cultural creative industry to start.
From the Project Application
”Through active dialogue with the private, non-profit, and public sectors, we aim to broaden and diversify the cultural offerings in Arjeplog, Arvidsjaur, and Sorsele municipalities, increase competence, enhance cooperation both within and outside the municipalities” borders, and contribute to increasing the attractiveness of our area."
Purpose and goals
The purpose of the project is to:
through cooperation between the private, public, and non-profit sectors create conditions for a diversified cultural offering, increase knowledge about the offerings available, and highlight what opportunities citizens have in terms of participation and influence over the offerings. By working for a richer cultural life with a varied range of cultural activities, the project will contribute to developing more attractive living environments to live, work, and thrive in, as well as create interest among citizens and the local population for cultural activities.
The goal of the project is to:
develop a working model for cooperation between the private, public, and non-profit sectors for the development of cultural activities, create at least one new physical meeting place for cultural collaboration, find forms for cooperation across the three municipal borders (Arjeplog, Sorsele, and Arvidsjaur municipalities), and develop and create at least one new collaborative activity within cultural creative activities.
