Make Tväråträsk accessible

By renovating the baking house, the association will not only preserve a cultural historical environment but will also create a meeting place!

About the project

The Flottarstugan, the old school, and the bagarstugan form a cohesive cultural-historical environment in Tväråträsk. Both the Flottarstugan and the old school are in relatively good condition, while the bagarstugan is in great need of renovation and restoration. To restore the bagarstugan, the oven needs to be rebuilt and have a metal covering in front of it. The floor also needs to be refreshed and the doors need to be insulated, as well as interior repainting. To ensure long-term heating of the property, we plan to install an air heat pump. This way, we can use the premises even during the cold seasons.

In addition to preservation and development, the restoration is also important for safety. Currently, smoke is coming from the oven, making it unhealthy to be in the building when the oven is in use. The renovation will be carried out with great care to preserve all original details of the building. At the same time, we will make the building accessible so that it becomes available to everyone.

The association's goal is to restore the bagarstugan to a usable condition and make the space of about 35-40 square meters usable for smaller gatherings, such as board meetings for the local heritage association, the hunting team, the road association, and other smaller private events.

From the Project Application

”The community will have a functional space for gatherings, while we preserve, develop, and make accessible a unique cultural-historical environment that tells the story of the area's history.”
