Flatbread Åsele 2020

To strengthen both the private and non-profit sectors in Åsele, there is an opportunity to highlight entrepreneurs, associations, and hobby activities that specialize in flatbread baking, but also other food crafts, together with manufacturers of tools or raw materials needed in the baking process. So far, the municipality has organized a flatbread fair at the cultural center on a small scale for two years, which has been very popular and received significant attention in both national and international media. However, to truly succeed with this initiative, a greater effort is required.

The project has the overarching goal of making Åsele municipality a destination for flatbread by placing the municipality on the flatbread map. By increasing interest in flatbread at the local, regional, and national levels, the foundation can be laid for business development, knowledge dissemination, and preservation of tradition and knowledge. In this way, the project can contribute to promoting growth and development of the area.

Further developing it and working with activities that strengthen interest and knowledge; creates conditions for growth in the business sector and engages both foreign-born individuals and youth can make the fair interesting at the national level and attract visitors from an even larger area.”
