Hiking trail around Örträsksjön – Part 2

In 2018, Örträskbygdens Interest and Heritage Association (ÖIHF) was granted funds from Leader to run a project whose main goal was to investigate the possibilities of establishing a hiking trail around Örträsksjön, apply for funds for investments, and explore the possibilities for accessibility adaptations and natural pastures.

The result of the project is as follows:
– Preliminary investigation: The majority of the approximately 100 affected landowners have, by signing land lease agreements, given their approval for the trail. The conclusion is that there is a possibility to establish a hiking trail around Örträsksjön!
– Completed investments/execution: About 15 smaller bridges, five larger bridges, two wind shelters, six benches, two fire pits, marking posts, marking paint, two notice boards, two stairs over fences to grazing fields, information and directional signs along the trail, brush clearing on the trail (total length about 20 km), participation in an information lecture about the general inheritance fund. With this project, hiking trail around Örträsksjön, part 2, we want to complete the already advanced work on the hiking trail around Örträsksjön so that residents and visitors can be given the opportunity to hike/stay in Örträsks beautiful nature.

The project will:
– Sight clearing from the trail down to the lake.
– Install a raft for passage over Örån.
– Install a floating bridge for passage over Kvarnbäcken.
– Set up rest areas: Wind shelters, trash bins, fire pits, benches, picnic tables.
– Installation of road signs for direction from the road to the hiking trail.
